Privacy Policy

This policy contains a brief summary of how we manage personal information. In this policy the expressions “we”, “us" and “our” refer to John R Keith (NSW) Pty Limited and its related entities.

We are bound by the National Privacy Principles contained in the Privacy Act 1988. Our handling of employee records is exempt from the National Privacy Principles and is not covered by this policy.

We may make changes to this policy at any time. Changes will be published on our website (www.jrk.com.au).

 

Generally personal information is information from which an individual person can be identified.

We will only collect personal information if it is necessary in the course of conducting our business. The personal information that we collect relates to prospective employees, clients, customers, suppliers and contractors and their respective employees and directors. This information includes:

1. name, address and contact details
2. date of birth
3. employment information (in some cases, sensitive information such as a medical report)
4. bank account details

We will collect personal information directly from an individual wherever it is reasonable and practicable to do so. When appropriate we may collect personal information from other sources, including:

1. public sources of information
2. an individual’s representatives (eg. spouse, professional adviser)
3. referees stated in an employment application and anyone else an individual may refer us to
4. credit providers and credit reporting agencies
5. entities within the John R Keith group of companies

Whenever you provide us with personal information about other individuals, we expect you to have made them aware that you will or may provide their information to us, the purposes we use it for, the types of third parties we disclose it to and how they can access it (as described in this document). If it is sensitive information we rely on you to have obtained their consent to the above. If you have not done either of these things, you must tell us before you provide the relevant information.

 

We will only use or disclose personal information for the purpose for which it was collected or for any other purpose for which you would reasonably expect it to be used or disclosed, unless you consent or if we are required by law or otherwise compelled to disclose such information.

We do not sell personal information we hold. From time to time we share personal information with:

1. entities within the John R Keith group of companies;
2. external organisations assisting us in the operation of our business or providing a service to us (eg. recruitment agencies, credit reporting agencies, debt collectors, professional advisers and consultants, contractors and agents);
3. a prospective purchaser of our business;
4. a client or contractor who requires the information for the purposes of assessing our business or administering our contract with them.

Wherever lawful and practicable, you do not have to give us personal information. However if you do not give us the personal information we request, we may not be able to provide our services, properly assess an employment application or otherwise complete your request.

We will make every reasonable effort to ensure that personal information we collect is complete, accurate and up-to-date and to ensure the security of that information. Once an individual’s information is no longer needed by us, we will take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it.

You should note that the internet is not a secure environment and although we make every reasonable effort to ensure the security of personal information transmitted over the internet, we cannot guarantee the security of the information you transmit to us.

An individual may access his or her own personal information that we hold. To make a request to access such information, contact the Company Secretary. To ensure the security of the information, we will require suitable proof of identity. A fee may apply. If the information that we hold is incorrect, incomplete or not up-to-date, you may request us to correct or update the information.
